As in other branches of athletics, there are some races that stand out as events that must be done, or events that everybody wants to do at some time in their career. Their names are well known but the facts about them are not. I have Mel Edwards’ copies of the magazine ‘The Scottish Hill Runner’ and they will be put up on site here – partly because they have results of hill races held in 1988 and 1989. We will have a look at epic events like the Island Peaks, long races such as Stuc a Chroin and some shorter events like Dumyat and the Kilpatricks. I’ll start with Stuc a Chroin since I can see it from my easy chair.
